  • 1.  Vision and Carbonite memory management... deleting memories from switcher after they are loaded???

    Hello All,

I'm mostly from a Sony switcher background and am now using a Ross Carbonite and Ross Vision switchers.

I see the same problem on both switchers meaning I see no way to delete memories.

On Sony switchers, deleting memories is very simple but it seems with Ross you cannot remove memories from the switcher after they are loaded - you can only load over them (which is very different from deleting a register).

    Am I missing something here?

    Thank you All

    Hi Robert,

Do you want to remove the entire memory set? If so you can recall a setup without the memories - instead of recalling ALL, simply recall everything but the memories. If you want to delete a specific range of memories, you can do that by accessing the appropriate switcher set file and delete the memory locations from the memory directory. you will need to FTP into the switcher to do that or in the case of Carbonite you could pull the USB drive and delete on a local machine.

    Does this help?

Thanks Nigel, your words are always helpful but when I load a VISION SETUP: personality and installation - I find the memories still exist in the switcher from the previous load. I am not concerned with managing disk files, only managing the memories already loaded.

I will ask the question this way - "If I have 500 memories loaded into my VISION switcher, the load a setup minus memories, should I expect all those previously 500 memories to now be gone?"

    Hi Robert,

I checked with engineering and unfortunately there is really no easy way to achieve memory deletion easily on Vision just now, this is a request we have received occasionally and we are looking into the simplest way to achieve this.

Currently the only way is to create a 'golden' load by doing a full reset and then saving the entire switcher. you can then recall the switcher set you have without the memories and that should leave all mems blank.

My colleague Les OReilly may have better input on this but he is travelling at present, I am sure he will respond when he sees this.

Ah yes... a golden load... that will do nicely.

    Thank you Nigel
