I have an EMEM on my Vision switcher that I created that does a blurred wings effect for 4x3 video. The problem I am having is that the defocus in the DVE does not blur the wing video as much as I would like it to. Is there some way to get more "oomph" out of the defocus effect? I thought maybe if I changed the Z-position and scaled it up it might, but it looked about the same. Any ideas?

    Hi Jason,

There is no more "oomph" as you put it unless you first send it through another DVE channel but that might be more difficult and require that you re-enter an MLE or use the CF to reenter before a higher keyer.

For the CF method you will need to say set the CF point to be before K2. In Key 1 do the defocus on the image and it's scaling. Now in K2 select the CF of the MLE. You might have to enable this in personality if you are getting the warning and it is not allowing the re-entry. Now in K2 you can run through the DVE again and apply the Defocus again. In Key 3 you will now want to layer the camera on it's own over top of the two DVEs -- use a Linear key and set clip and gain to zero -- now use the MASK to "crop" the pillar bars off the end. You may need to invert the box mask to achieve this as I am pretty sure the default is to mask the inside not the outside of the box.
