  • 1.  8.0 issue

    Hey all,

Just updated to 8.0, had a few tip of the hats but also 1 big issue. Maybe you all can shed some light on the problem.

First impression it seems to be another great, comprehensive update.

However, this is the problem, each input seems to be off by 1 scan line at the top. I immediately punched through a few inputs and changed the auxs to see what the problem might be. I noticed that the problem goes away when using a dve key with the foreground in black. However, take the foreground to anything else and the scan line goes back to being off.

My first thought is that the inputs are being under-scaned somehow? Anyway, I didn't have that much time to troubleshoot it because I have a show tonight and went ahead and retro-graded to 7.3.4, the issue went away. Would like to try a few things later, like outputting to different devices, apply a FSFC, etc. My configuration is Carbonite 2M -> Vista Spyder -> LED Processing. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. I look forward to rectifying this issue because 8.0 really had me excited.

    Thanks again

    Iain

    What is your reference source?

There is a change to the video path and processing. So it could be that you need to adjust the timing feeding the switcher so that the downstream devices are not dropping a line.

What is your Video Format? What is your Reference Format?

    Thanks,

    Les,

Sorry for the late reply. Reference is internally generated, hitting a DA and spreading to everything else.

    Format is 1080i, tri-level sync.

I shall try adjusting the sync out from the switcher. I unfortunately just did not have enough time to play with it before the show. I let you know what I find out.

    Thanks

    Les,

It has been a little since we last visited this issue. We retrograded to 7.3.4 and have just now had a chance to revisit 8.0.3.

I have the same issue but with greater detail. I've narrowed down the problem to just the media store. Whenever a still or animation goes to air as a direct source, there is one single green line at the top of the frame. However, if I run it through a dve key, no green line.

I tried using a mini me with M1 through a DVE key, but still had a green line.

System config is still the same. Carbonite 2M -> Vista Spyder -> LED Processing

One more detail is on my Marshall QC monitor there is no green line, but through the Vista Spyder, there is.

My thought is that the Marshall is cutting off 1 or more pixels even though its says "Native" and the Spyder is more pixel accurate.

    Thoughts? Thanks for your help.

Well this sounds like the Cameras might be timed a line ahead of the switcher.

Can you adjust the reference feeding the switcher to try and align the internal source into the Spyder. Then align the Camera timing into the switcher to align correctly with the switcher?
