  • 1.  Carbonite Xpression Audio Puzzle

My engineers and I are puzzling about how to get audio playback from Xpression Studio/BlueBob and the CarbonitePlus Media Wipe through our already overloaded 16 input Wheatstone audio console. Can we loop Xpression audio through the Carbonite? There is concern about audio following any SDI source on program if we de-embed a program output. Would a fixed level mixer upstream of the Wheatstone work? I read something about sending media wipe audio through a multiviewer ouput.

    James:

We run Media Player(s) and the Xpression audio through an AJA then the AJA output goes to the audio mixer. Below is the signal flow, I hope it helps you in some way.

    NOTE:

Aux 5 is used to route the various signals to the AJA

    MV1 (MultiViewer 1) = Media Player 1

    MV2 (MultiViewer 2) = Media Player 3

Assign each specific media store/player as an ANC data source (thats the embedded audio) to the MultiViewer outputs. (via dashboard is the easiest way)

Custom Control example showing how to route the audio signals with a :01 transition:

    Example One:[i]

    AUX5 - MV1

    M/E2 Key 4 - MediaPlayer 1

Media Player 1 - (LOAD TGA Sequence to be used)

    Pause 5 frames

    M/E2 Key 4 - ON

Media Player 1 - RUN command

    Pause 15 frames

    M/E 2 CUT

    Pause 15 frames

    M/E2 Key 4 - OFF

    Example Two:[i]

    AUX5 - MV2

    M/E2 Key 4 - MediaPlayer 3

Media Player 3 - (LOAD TGA Sequence to be used)

    Pause 5 frames

    M/E2 Key 4 - ON

Media Player 3 - RUN command

    Pause 15 frames

    M/E 2 CUT

    Pause 15 frames

    M/E2 Key 4 - OFF

    Example Three:[i]

    AUX5 - Xpression

    M/E2 Key 4 - Xpression

Xpression - (LOAD clip to be used)

    Pause 5 frames

    M/E2 Key 4 - ON

    Xpression - RUN command

    Pause 15 frames

    M/E 2 CUT

    Pause 15 frames

    M/E2 Key 4 - OFF

As you can see by the examples above the audio routing changes via AUX5. (You can use any aux output) While the transition video is changed via M/E2 Key 4
