  • 1.  Carbonite 2ME panel stuck in 'sleep' mode

    Posted 09-29-2014 14:53
Twice now our switcher panel for the carbonite frame has gone into the blinking button sleep mode and wont wake back up. It still slowly blinks through buttons but will not respond when anything is clicked. Requires a full shutdown of the frame, not just the panel to restore it back to operation.

Panel is 2ME, connected via Cat6 directly to the frame, distance is about 60ft. Running latest software update (9.1 i think) and latest panel firmware.

Anyone else experience this, it has only occurred with new 2me panel, never happened when 1me was being used with older software

We've noticed this too. We just disabled sleep. No more issues

The only other time we've had our carbonite freeze up is 1 out of 100 times when running Custom Controls. Very rare, but typical with some switchers IMO

    Hi Guys,

We are trying to track down what is causing this to randomly happen. There is nothing that shows up in any logs as there seems to be no actual "freeze" but for some reason the panel application is waiting on something. That is also why you are able to still do things in DashBoard and also you see a heartbeat in the frame. Currently the only way to fix it is to actually "reboot" the system.

You could Telnet into the Frame use the user root password z and then type in the command reboot and press enter. This would make it so that you don't have to go to the frame and flip a switch but it is essentially flipping the switch. We will do our best to continue to track this down.

In the meantime we did release version 10. There were some bug fixes including a Memory Leak bug so I suggest you upgrade and see if you are getting longer intervals in these panel sleep hangs.

Sorry again for the inconvenience. If it was a bug we could easily recreate we would have fixed it by now.

    Les
