Hi, Our switcher is moving locations. The board is not getting it's memory wiped but I believe all the auxes are going to be different now. Would anyone have a guideline as where to start to resync wipes and auxes? I am just looking for some general help to get started to make sure the board is talking with the new system. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't intend to sound "mean" but we need way more context to what your asking. No idea what you mean about Re-Sync of Wipes on Auxes. Are you referring to monitor feeds on sets? What is a wipe on an Aux? How are you doing that now? Why does the Aux change because your location is changing?? What "new system" is the switcher talking too???

We need lots more detail and context to try to respond in a manner that will point you in the proper direction.

    Les,

Let me elaborate a little more because half the battle in this industry is using the proper terminology. The board is physically moving to a new location in a new building. Wipes are still going to be used in CG4 through Expression. Is there anything specific to to make sure the board is "talking/seeing" (insert proper term here) expression for wipes. The studio will have different monitors which I don't think will be named the same as the previous building. In the old building we had more than studio monitors routed to the board (ross vision). Is it just editing those locations inside the board (still store/ edit aux settings?) Please let me know if that helps clear up any confusion and I can elaborate more if needed.

    Thanks!

You should not have to do anything really. Monitors named the same should not matter. All of the Outputs are assignable. So you can rename the Aux Bus and assign the "virtual" bus to the output that is connected to the monitor.

One thing to consider doing is documenting what everything is doing now. Setup a Camera that is shooting the panel if you can -- I would also Mic up the person so they can Talk through the effects and Custom Controls they are running. Build a 2 Box on and ME that would not normally be affected by these custom controls. Put the Camera shooting the panel in one and then put a Camera that is shooting the Set in another.

Run through all of your effects so that you can see what effect is doing what to which monitors and elements. Verbally document the names of the Effects and the Monitors. Then you can see which monitor is connected to which "Aux Bus" again note that the Aux Bus is just a virtual bus. It is not associated to a specific output. Any Output Can select any of the buses.

Now when you move you will have the ability to go back and figure out which Virtual Bus was being used for which monitor. Then when they tell you what monitor is connected to which physical output you can go into the Output Menu and change that output to be the AuxBus that the effects are using.

As for the CG wipes. I would hope that they will wire the physical inputs up to the board and use the same IP addresses. If not then on the input side not so bad -- in version 17 we added Patch Bay ability. So you can go in and tell the "Virtual" source to use a different Physical BNC. That way all of the Memories and Customs would still select the correct video. However in the case of the inputs (outputs are not as big of a deal to re-assign) I would "stress" to them that they connect everything back to the Input that they were on :)

IP addresses is another issue if they don't keep those the same -- you then have to change the device control assignments (Com Setup) so that they now point to the correct machine. Now for Timing of the wipes and control -- Unless they have some crazy change in Network latency this should have no impact on your effects.
