  • 1.  How do I load a new animation into the switcher?

    Hi,

We have a carbonite switcher and we are trying to load a new animation so we can load it from the GUI as a media transition. We haven't been able to see it in the GUI once it is loaded onto the switcher's USB stick. Is there a certain format the video needs to be? I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for any help in advance.

    Hi Arnold,

It should be either a TGA or PNG sequence with Alpha channel, in the same pixel format as the production standard. Best to create a directory for each animation to avoid confusion.

You should be able to see the animation in the media manager, but for transitions you need to load it from the media transition menu on the panel or use the dashboard LiveAssist menu and assign each animation a slot by putting in it's media ID number (which you can see in the panel menu or the media manager).

I have the same question. I placed a fullscreen wipe on the timeline in Final Cut and exported it as a .tga image sequence. It created a folder containing a .tga file for each frame of video.

Should I be able to see the folder in the media manager when I insert the usb, or do I need to somehow make it one file and not a folder containing multiple files?

    Hi Doug,

Yes that should work fine. Simply plug in the USB drive then select 'Media' as the transition and the menu will allow you to scroll through the USB content until you come the the folder name you created which you select and then will show you the first frame of the sequence which you select - it will then load the entire sequence into memory and the 'media' button will blink until loading is complete.

Alternatively you can use the Media Manager and DashBoard Live assist to see the thumbnails and load them into the media stores. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm going to test it out tomorrow and let you know how it goes.
