  • 1.  Can Split ME function be controlled by two ROW ME buses simultaneously?

    Posted 10-10-2017 02:03
    Dear Sir,

Knowing the Acuity have the split ME function with different keyer assign to different PGM output (PGM A & PGM B).

The Panel itself have two buttons " PGM A" & "PGM B" in the Transition module for control which PGM output buses....

Have assigned two ROW as first ROW is PGM A, second ROW is PGM B , which can make the signal selection & the transition separately...

However, while use second ROW to control PGM B, the first ROW will also change to PGM B...

It cannot be separated as 2 ME at the same time to control, isn't it?

    Thanks & regards,

    Jackie

No that can not be done at this time. Also we do not have any information on a date of if/when this could currently.

Hi, Les. Please add my name to this request. We just took delivery of a 2ME Acuity with a 3-row panel (to be expanded with MEs and I/O as we grow) and I was really hoping to leverage the split ME across the panels as mentioned above. In an ideal world we would have purchased more ME resources out of the gate, but this is the real world.

Our training is coming up in 1.5 wks - I will ask them about this to see what the alternatives are, and pass this request along with them as well.

Many thanks for your great support - looking forward to a long relationship with Ross!

Bryan -- A 2ME can have the .5 ME enabled as well (Half ME and AuxKeys are included features with Acuity).

So a 2ME can actually be a 3 ME where the PGM ME would have either 2 Keys or 4 Keys - depends on the mode and how may Outputs you want to restrict to fixed output signals.

This would give you Cuts and Dissolves and Linear/Luma Keying for a PGM ME. The 2 Keyer mode uses 6 Outputs to create the .5ME and you get 2 PGM / 2 PV and a clean feed before each keyer on your 6 outputs. In 4 Keyer mode it is 10 outputs with 4 PGM / 2 PV / 4 CLNs (1 before each keyer).

Also groups of outputs can be set to Aux Mixer Mode (2 outputs to make a PGM/PST) or AuxKeyer Mode (4 Outputs 2 PGM/PV/CLN) here you get a Mix on Aux and with the Keyer mode add a Linear/Luma keyer on top or as part of a transition since you can run it like an ME form the panel or built into Custom Controls.

Thanks for the quick reply, Les - on New Year's Day! This is a big reason why we went with Ross. Hope you're getting rest and downtime as well. You're amazing.

For our main show, we need to feed broadcast, two iMAG screens (with separate or combined feeds), a confidence monitor and a building monitor feed. I haven't worked out the best way to use my resources or map them to rows yet, but I definitely wanted to use the half ME and/or AuxKeys. I thought putting IMAG on a split ME with each half on separate rows would be nice but that might have not been easy to use anyway. We don't have complex effects yet so maybe the bottom for for broadcast ME, middle row for IMAG with a way to use the keyer row as the xpt selector for the 2nd IMAG screen when needed and the top row for confidence monitors and building feed. Need unique keys for each, but not too many.

I'll keep working on it in time for commissioning and training Jan 9-11. Thanks again - it's a great board!

AuxKeys will be good for Feeds, but for your IMAG you might want to use an ME. Note that you can from the same Row control both. The selector button will switch between the A side and B Side or you can even select both simultaneously so that your controlling the A and B side together.

You can also Assign bus linking and all kinds of ways to have the feeds follow each other or change. Lots of work flow options here.
