  • 1.  Transfer of memories to a new switcher

Hello, soon we will be upgrading our Vision MDX to a Vision Tritium and a question came up from an operator. Will our stored items in memories be compatiable with the new system software? Will we be able to transfer them over with a USB key or will they all have to be rebuilt? Items like Still store images, key setups for things like over shoulder graphics.

    Hi Bryce,

you can update your Vision MdX to a current version of 16.1. Then you can take an off the shelf Hard Drive and plug it into your Vision panel. We added a Frame HDD backup ability that will backup your Hard Drive and then you can use that to Restore to your new switcher.

I would then load the older setups Memories and Custom Controls. Then go through them. Some things should work just fine but you might need to tweak them. I think you will be surprised with how much will just work.

By doing the HDD Backup/Restore you will get the Media Database and files all copied over without any changes in the Media ID numbers which is the key here. If you were to just copy them from one switcher to the other then as they are added to the new switcher it would just create new IDs based on it's own database. Which is what the memories and CC will be using to call up those media items.

We are currently at 12.1c and the other thing I almost forgot was all our items are built for SD 4:3 so they will have to be redone for 16:9 HD.
