Production Switchers

Hi all,

I'm trying to control playback from a NewTek 3PLay 4800 From a Carbonite switcher.

Both systems are brand new, and running the latest software builds.

I've read in the user manuals that this should be possible using AMP protocol, but I haven't been able to find much details of how to setup and operate this.

I've found a Ross document describing how to configure control of a generic video server using AMP, but specific instructions regarding 3Play.

I've checked with NewTek support, and according to them there are no configuration needed on the 3play side. It just needs to sit on the same network as the AMP device controlling it (which it already does). Both units are connected to the same switch, and there are no firewalls etc.

Does anyone know how to set this up or get it working? Tips and suggestions are most welcome.

Hi Kim,

Basically it should just work -- we have never had one in-house for us to test and do the write up on how to get them connected and talking. One thing I would check though is that you have SubNet and Mask Settings done accordingly on each of the devices -- also make sure you don't have two NICs plugged into the same switch and running within the same subnet -- that will cause issues.

Hi Guys,

As mentioned we have never had a unit in house to document. The AMP protocol uses specific Ports assigned for AMP and Channel IDs (this is defined in the protocol). So the only thing I can offer for advice would be that you need to make sure you have the correct release of software from them that supports the AMP Protocol.
