  • 1.  Using the Smart Converter on an AUX output

    Posted 09-05-2014 08:31
I am using a new ross vision octane 3M/E and i have been trying to output M/E 3 1080p 50 through AUX 1 using the Smart Conversion. The switcher is setup for 1080i 50 and i can't seem to activate the Smart Converter for the AUX. It is definitely an installed option in this Switcher. When i turn on the smart converter in the Aux Menu for AUX 1 and set it's input and output to the rates i am trying to achieve it default it to BNC01 input and i can't seem to change it. Also it does't seem to active on the main menu. I have run through the manual a dozen time and spent the last 24hrs messing with it. can someone give me some guidance on this issue?

    thanks

    Hi Ben,

SmartConversion is a "tie-line" management system that uses external converters and some inputs pair with outputs to manage the conversion needs in the background.

There is no actual conversion hardware in the switcher. So if you don't have any converters setup under smart conversion then they won't be available for you to use. If all your trying to do is convert a single Aux then you would be best to just attach the converter to that output and then onward to the device your making the conversion for.

Can you give me an example of a converter that would be compatible with the Aux output for getting 1080p out of a 1080i desk?

    thanks

    Hi Ben,

From Ross We have a UDC that goes into our openGear Chassis along with other card based products. http://www.rossvideo.com/terminal-equipment/opengear/up-down-cross-arc-conversion/udc-8625a.html

However depending on the terminal gear your facility uses you may have to look to those product vendors.

Standalone option for a 3G converter is like the following:
