I just wanted to let the community know that i received my Carbonite SOLO on Tuesday. (FYI, i ordered the day after NAB where the product was announced.) I am NOT an experienced Carbonite user but i have some experience in the installation of a Carbonite.

Things i now know because of owning it and playing for 2 days.

The internal storage for frames of media wipes is 2GB.

The multiviewer is limited to 10 windows. More exactly, the view with the most views possible is the 10box. The ONE that has PVW-PGM and then 8 small boxes the occupy the lower half of the screen. Of course PVW and PGM are assignable, but i am trying to describe the "default view" .

The software is a different development chain. Meaning that although CURRENT the Carbonite software is on 12.xxx the SOLO software is on 1.xxx. This is confirmed by the Ross Video support team. I am expecting there to be a different download and support site as this is obviously being developed as a separate product from the Carbonite line.

    Thats all for now!

    Hi Rob,

Sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing that info! As far as I can tell, Carbonite Solo is a replacement for the old Crossover series switcher, so I would expect the features to be similar.

So just really quick response as I just saw this.

This product is developed by the same team and is built off of the same code base.

Due to many reasons we preferred the path of branching and starting with software version number 1.

There will be differences in product and features that are not going to allow common software version between the product so you will see it as different product download versions.

Ironically currently Solo has an advancement of the DashBoard interface with the introduction of the SoftPanel. This does require the use of 1920x1080 minimum resolution.

I have a Solo Walk Through video to cover all the menus mostly done. Need to finish some edits and then it will post to the Carbonite U section.

All Solo questions and comments should be posted here as this is a Carbonite Series product.

    Thanks all!!

Looking forward to hearing from everyone what they are up to with their new Carbonite Solo switchers!! Already shipped over 140 units since its release a few days ago :)
