Hi, can anyone offer some guidance on the basic components needed for a production system using the Carbonite Black solo? The system would be for portable productions. I am not quite sure how to approach the audio side of it since the switcher doesnt seem to take in and pass analog audio. We'll have an external analog audio mixer and I don't know what is needed to ensure video and audio are in sync for webstreaming/recording.

What are you planning to use for the WebStreaming? Normally you use an Audio Embedder if the Streaming device does not have separate inputs for video and audio. The higher quality Audio Embedder products (like our openGear Embedder) have the ability to add Audio Delay and also Gain adjustments as well.

I plan on using a Blackmagic webpresenter which can use embedded audio via HDMI or SDI and can also take in separate L+R channels on RCA.

Well then that is perfect :) you will then just put the Stereo Audio output of your audio mixer into the Analog Inputs and the SDI input from the switcher. Note that for the Audio from the Media wipes you will have the AES on the back of the switcher. If you do not have an AES input on your mixer then you will want an AES to Analog Audio for it to feed into the audio mixer.

My concern is that since the audio never touches the switcher then I might get some latency...? My current plan is to go PGM SDI out from the carbonite and Audio out from the audio mixer into an SDI embedder. Then out of the embedder into the streaming device and record decks.

The Switcher has less than 1/4 line of delay through the system. A Frame sync will add 1 frame of delay to the source being synced. You should not have an issue. Note that depending on the Embedder it may have no processing control so if you do that and you can't alter the audio to the video then it is no different than the direct connection. You can easily try it and see how it looks and sounds!
