  • 1.  Carbonite advances xpression sequence when key is transitioned

Setting up rosstalk on our carbonite switcher (v11.0.1) to control the xpression (v5.7) studio system the xpression sequence keeps advancing whenever the key is transitioned.

Not a bad thing in principal but the transition happens when the key goes in not out. I've looked everywhere I can in dashboard and the switcher but can't find anything to do with key transition behavior related to rosstalk or gpio.

    Any insight would be appreciated.

Yes, just back in from the truck. Its amazing what you learn when you read the instructions.

Yep roll clip was on and set to next, turned it off. Now it behaves.

    Thanks James.

This "Mode" is for the "old" school Tally Advance that was used on a Deko.

For the users that use the more traditional key on key off type work flow it will send the NEXT -- depending on the XPression model and video mode you set it to like 5-7 frames of pre-roll so that it will send the command advance the sequencer and then the key goes on.

Normally this is also clearing the previous graphic.

When you work with the multi layering workflow this is no longer really usable and you will manage everything via Custom Controls

Is there a way to disable this functionality on a per device basis? I like using roll clip with my video server, but I don't care for it on my Xpression. Often times my TD will inadvertently fat finger the roll clip button, which leads to graphics unexpectedly being taken to air.

    Hi Ivan,

Yes in the Device menu when you setup the XPression there is an OPTIONS menu where you turn the knob to select the different option (first option you see is PORT)

There is a Roll Clip option that you set to OFF. This will disable the Roll Clip function for the XPression Device. This has noting to do with turning off the Roll Clip button but rather the function for the RossTalk Device.
