Just did a show with the 2.0 software upgrade incorporating the Media Clip Player.
Looks pretty good up scaling the files from the required 720p to a 1080i/59.94 show. My Clients made several 720p files on this show and could see a difference in files that were not encoded using the 'highest quality' codec settings. ( I now have it in my notes for my clients to use highest quality 720p settings when making clips )
At first I had a problem in that the clip player was not in sync with the switcher.
I have looked through the setup instructions and new manual sections but there is no mention of having to use up one of my precious frame syncs to lock the signal, which is what I did.
QUESTION: I am I missing something in my setup, so I don't tie up a frame sync?
The clip player control in dashboard is easy to use. I like being able to make Thumbs for the files to Identify them easily.
Files cue quickly, and play reliably-Except, there was a event during rehearsal where I had to quick load several video clips to audition different versions for the Client (Stopping Mid Play, Re-cue, Selecting New Clip, Stopping Mid Play, Cue etc. several times) where suddenly, the clip player would not play.
I could refresh and chose clips to load but they would not play from neither Dashboard nor from the Switcher panel. I eventually rebooted the switcher and that cleared the lockup of the clip player.
I was able to repeat this lockup of the Clip Player back at my shop. Not sure how to fix this except to give a longer moment before loading the next clip after the current clip is stopped or plays out.
QUESTION: Can the Clip Player have its own Tab separate from within Live Assist in Dashboard without making a Custom Panel?
Wish List for Future Upgrade:
1- On the Solo Panel, besides Play and Cue in the LCD Window, have some feedback that Play or Cue has been activated like flashing the Play or Cue characters or use an Icon. (Many Clips I played started in black so it would be a nice indication especially when my Dashboard view is not on the Live Assist-Clip Player Window)
2- Now I can't remember if it did but will check on next show- When a clip is cued, have it be ID'd in the Solo Panel LCD Screen the same way as the Media Stores
(again if my Dashboard is not on the Live Assist-Clip Player Window)
3- Have the Cue knob or the Third select knob on the Solo Panel also be able to choose clips (i.e. previous or next clip in the player)
4- Have Start/Stop control of Clip Player on the Solo Panel.
Thanks everyone at Ross for getting the Clip Player up and running!
