I admit right in the beginning that I don't fully understand the ins and outs (no pun intended) of GPIO things. It seems like it would be fairly simple, but there are some things that are confusing me.
We have a Ross Carbonite Multimedia frame and in another room we have some Grass Valley products. We have a GV switcher and some GV T2 iDDRs. We are using the GV Switcher to fire play commands via GPIOs. (We know we can control them directly through LAN controls, and we do that as well, but we have another need which uses GPIOs). I'm wanting to hook the Ross switcher into these T2s to do the same thing. The T2s have the GPI as an input, and accept contact closure. I have measured both the GV and the Ross with a multimeter and the GV does not output any voltage with it's GPOs. The Ross, no matter what settings you use, outputs 5V. Is there a way to set the Ross to output a contact closure only? We (and the people at GV) are worried about the 5V breaking something in the T2s. Which doesn't entirely make sense to me, to be honest, but that's what their saying.
And if not, do you guys know of a way we can get a contact closure with another box that accepts 5V like a relay or something?
Thanks for any help you can provide! Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding something.
