  • 1.  Carbonite Media-Store Capture Problem

Occasionally we have had a problem with the Carbonite switcher capturing stills when we have not set it up to capture. In order to stop it from capturing, we have to power down and restart the switcher and control surface.

I don't know if this has to do with the way the switcher is set up, but it seems to happen when we are using a still in one of the Media-store channels for a background. In MLE2 we have Camera 2 shooting talent on a green screen, keyed over a still in the Media-store (M4). In MLE1 we have a different still from the Media-Store, for instance M2. When we put MLE1 in Preview, a still is captured from Camera 1 and automatically loaded into the M2 Media-Store channel. This happens again and again until all the channels are filled with captures. We reload the correct stills, and they get replaced again by captures when MLE1 is put into Preview.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? We have not purposely used the capture capability of the Carbonite, so as far as we know it is not set up in any of our presets. Reloading a known good preset does not make the unwanted capturing go away. (Sorry if this sounds confusing "” I'm the graphics operator, not the director.) We would welcome an ideas on why this is happening. Thanks.

    Hi Melinda,

This sounds like odd behaviour indeed. Can you find out what version of software that Carbonite is running?

Just press Menu and Status on the panel and the version will be shown in the display.

10.0.2. We updated it recently. But we also had the same capture problem in the past with an earlier version.

Are you using Custom Controls to recall memories and mediastore content in this production? I wonder if a capture command has been inadvertently added into a Macro.

If not you might want to contact Ross Tech Support, 1 (613) 652-4886 or techsupport@rossvideo.com, its totally free and our guys are very helpful.

As far as I know we were not using custom controls in this production. I'll talk more with our director and have him check. Thanks.
