I'm Looking to make multi way box FX on multiple MEs , what will be the delay if I do a 3 way box on one ME and a 2 way box on my other ME , and then take them through my PP bus?

You can re-enter up to 4ME deep before you would incur a line drop. So your fine to do that. What switcher are you using? You can make 2 boxes in a Keyer. Or is this that your out of DVE resources on a Vision and need to jump to the next pair of ME that have DVE available.

An Acuity, do my keyer DVEs add any additional delay to the picture ?

Any video inside of a DVE adds 1 Frame of delay. Are you just re-entering the ME on a Bus or are you going to Re-Enter to a Keyer and then use a DVE to move those boxes back again?

Ok that's great and what's the over all delay if I take a source directly to an Aux output?

On an Aux or sources not in a DVE even through a cascade of 4 ME is less than 1 line of delay.

Great is there anything else other than DVE ( or 4 plus MEs) that would cause any additional delay to be added?

If you have a multiProcessing input board you could turn on the Frame Syncs and add delay via them.

Do you mind me asking what 'old mixer' that increased delay with borders and drop shadows? We want to keep the delay to a minimum on the Carbonite Multimedia system.

It seems that the delay is between 0 and 1 frames, (on average 0.5 frames), for all cameras and the switcher in genlocking to house sync.
Then some delay for processing each input, (color correction, white balance), plus a bit more delay with any video overlay on another video.

The result seems to be between 1 and 2 frames of delay from input through to output, (direct to a SDI monitor). Am I wrong in this? Anybody else measure this?
