  • 1.  6 Box using Multiple MLEs

    Morning,

I am trying to create a 6 box for use in our evening newscast and am running into an issue with the number of keyers available. I setup my graphic as the BKGD and have no problems creating a functional 4 box, but when I attempt to involve a second MLE and to provide the additional two fly keys needed I am unable to get OverDrive to load the box properly. Would you please help explain how a fixed multiple MLE template can be functional with OverDrive and more specifically how I can apply it to creating a 6 box for use in live broadcast? I am working on a Vision Switcher using Version 15.0h MD Build 0213, and OverDrive Version 12.09 Build 6746.

    Thanks in advance,

    -Greg

Are you coding the Template as a 2 ME Effect? Both Memories have to be different since you need the switcher to sort it out to what is going to be the Base ME and then the second ME.

Yes, I have tried to build the effect as a 2 ME setup. On one ME I have built a basic 4 box, on the other ME I built the other 2 boxes and have used the first ME as the background. Both of these memories are different numbers, but I have a couple of issues with this arrangement and OverDrive. If I use the "2 - use two MLEs" method of building the template the system tries to prepare both memories on MLE 1 & 2 or on 2 & 3 which isn't always possible since I only have 4 S&T resources to share between 1 & 2. This has led me to the thought that using a "Use fixed MLEs" template in OverDrive would be more effective, but when I attempt to build this template it does not show up in the OverDrive Editor plugin in iNews.

    Thanks again,

    -Greg

Thinking about this a little further, if I were to attempt to build the template using the "2 - use two MLEs" option, how would I then specify which MLE to use as a background? In other words how would I make the BKGD row relative to the MLE it is recalled on by OverDrive?

The way I achieved this on my vision four started the same way you did...

-MLE 1 and 2 had the same recall making a functional 4 box

-I tied a custom control to the recall, which will punch a specific recall on MLE 3 giving me my last 2 channels

Using this method I always had my 2nd MLE free to take my first live source then had an auto run custom control which would restore MLE 3 to my aux route it is defaulted to prior to the 6 box
