  • 1.  Alpha in a DVE Key Source

    Posted 12-18-2016 03:43

So it's the busiest time of year and I wouldn't argue that I might not be "all there" in the head right now. A couple weeks ago I setup a DVE key to take the (alpha enabled) lyric feed and make it a lower-third overlay for our distro. It worked great, now that we moved to two line lyrics this could become a norm. Usually these lyrics appear centre screen in the room with a box around them, so to get them as they are in the distro picture, I had to involve a DVE key to crop and move them down.

Now where everything went sideways is when I failed to update my setup saves (because D'oh) and did a reset today due to other oddities. When I tried to set up the affect again, now I'm not getting transparency in the lyrics layer when the key is set as DVE (only when set to linear). I've tried to look for information here and on Carbonite U but I can't find reference to using the keys in this combination with an alpha enabled source.

Is this something to do with key resource management? I'm using both MEs and all 4 MiniMEs for different outputs with various key configurations depending on the moment (though nothing else new between when this was working and now). Or did I just have the magic touch and lost it this week?

    Thanks,
    Christian

You either have to turn the DVE on in the DashBoard Menu just like you would a Mask. Or the quick way is to hold down the Auto Select Key and press the DVE key. This will make it a Auto Key and turn the DVE on. If you don't hold the Auto key when you press DVE then the system thinks you want a single channel DVE key type -- i.e. for boxes and only uses 1 channel.

If I had read your response last night I would have sworn that second DVE button didn't exist. Amazing what a few hours sleep will do. Thank you lesoreilly.
