    Will keep updates here about Versions:

    Carbonite Classic Frames (Includes the 18 / 24 Input, Plus and MultiMedia frames. Also includes the eXtreme) : v15.0.3

    Carbonite Black Solo 9 and 13 : v2.0.3


    Carbonite Black 36 Input Frames (Includes the Black, Black Plus and Black Plus 12G Frames) -- These have 4 different options for them:

    SD/HD/3G Video Formats : v15.0.3
    UHD Video Formats : v14.0

    UltraChromeHR Software : v1.0

    Mosaic Software: v1.1

    (Note that even though Mosaic will run on the Carbonite Black Frame this is not a recommended configuration since there are no Input or Output video processing resources that are only on the Plus and Plus 12G Frame types. When a unit is ordered as a Mosaic the model is the Black Plus Engine.)


    Carbonite Ethernet for Panels (Includes all Carbonite Black Panels, the CB-9 Panel and the CarboNET for adding the legacy panel to IP networks): v 1.4.512

    I was wondering what the difference was between the current 13.0.1 (July 11th) package, and the 13.0.1 (June something?) package that was posted on the website last month?

    We added into it the DashBoard v8.4.1 version (previously would have been 8.3.1) and for the Carbonite Black Series we Added the Mosaic Software v1.0.1 as well.

    Since Mosaic runs on the same hardware but as a different "mode" of function we include all 4 of the Software Defined Production packages into the same bundle to keep them together.

    The CarbonitePanel-v1_4_512.bin included in the latest 13.0.2 package, what is the use for that? Do we need to update anything with this file, or what is it good for?

    That is the Carbonite Black Panels (IP Panels - or the CarboNET Box if one in the legacy system) You connect to the panel through dashboard and you can update it via that file. You will also see in the Panels status what version it is. Most likely it is the version above.

    Hi Mike -- What Video Standard are you operating in?  If you are SD/HD/3G then upgrade to the version 13.0.4 package.

    Shouldn't this be updated to vers. 15? Also, there's a bug that remaps your User button row on the CarbonitePanel.

    Yes... Yes it should :)

    And yes that is something we are looking into.  The addition of all the new user buttons types and the ability to even replace the Key Type buttons as user buttons has resulted in needing to remap.

    Hi Les,
    We have a legacy Carbonite (24 input/2 ME) running software version 13.0.4. I've just noticed this new v15 update. I downloaded the zip file for the legacy Carbonite, but all the documentation refers to Carbonite Black. Will it actually work on our Carbonite or is it only for Carbonite Black? I'm a little confused.

    Hi James, yes, the v15 update will work on your legacy Carbonite.

    As you know, the legacy Carbonites have been discontinued. So we have stopped updating the documentation. However, there was a demand for legacy Carbonites to be compatible with the new TouchDrive panels. This meant that the Carbonite has to be running v15. So we put v15 through Product Verification on legacy Carbonites, and we have ensured that v15 works.

    We upgraded one of our Classics to v15 and the switcher functioned correctly; however, we couldn't get the serial-connected control panel to communicate. Was support for the serial connection removed in v15? Everything works fine in v13, which we had to downgrade to using Dashboard.

    That Panel is not supported in version 15... It had the non-LCD Menu buttons and was the only version of that style.  It was actually the CrossOver panel and was replace by the C1-A panel the following year...

    70042 - An illegal alpha source will no longer disable the MultiViewer.
    XXXXX - Serial panel calibration now works. 
    XXXXX - ViewControl is now working.


    I'm invested as we have 3 Carbonites with that old unsupported panel. One of which I was just considering adding a Touchdrive panel to for remote operation.

    I realize updating documentation is a huge challenge for anyone, but I have significant hours over the last two days with Ross Support troubleshooting this exact issue on one of our carbonites -frame upgrades fine, but the panel does not.  It would have been nice to know this panel wasn't supported and that Ross tech support was aware as well.  Totally understand EoL of stuff, just would like to know prior to upgrades, this was actually supported and would reduce end-user challenges and time from other valuable work.

    It was not "Intentional" and thus not something that was documented as having been missed in the testing of v15.  It is known that it is not supported with Carbonite Ultra series where the CarboNET is also required since there is no PSL port on Ultra.

    It has been logged as a bug and when we can rectify it you will be notified.

    Hi Les,

    I have just updated our Carbonite+ to the current v15 on the website, and I've found a few issues, and I wanted to check if there were expected?

    1) All of the user button assignments are now incorrect. I have had to fix this for every set we have saved on the mixer. Was this expected?
    1b) I was unable to re-assign the 'Key PV' button that is normally in the key options at the left hand side.

    2) In Media Manager, it doesn't appear possible to add several items to a playlist anymore. We used to put 20-30 stills in a single media store and select are required, but I cannot see anyway to do this now.

    3) The 'Panel' entry from dashboard has disappeared. I know you can do more from dashboard now, but there is now no way to adjust the Tally config except by getting to the surface again. 

    4) Do you happen to know if the fix for media numbers above 999 has been looked at yet, I couldn't see anything in the changelog.

    1 -- The User buttons were extended to all buttons on the Row....  It does not seem to handle pulling old sets forward due to this...  So yes you will have to assign these again.  Note this is now available in DashBoard under the personality menu.

    2 -- Correct Media Manager via DashBoard is now native DashBoard and not serving up the WebUI that contained Playlists.  If you want to still access that feature you can open a web browser and point it at the switcher to get the Old UI...

    3 -- As per the Upgrade Notes PDF each Panel has it's own connection to dashboard now.  That way the Main and Sat Panels can have their own Panel Link Menus...  In doing that we made the Virtual/Soft Panel a full independent "4th" Panel.  You need to add an additional Connection to your DashBoard that connects on 5257... (Main is on 5253, Sat 1 is 5255 and Sat 2 is 5256).

    4 -- The Media Database only supports IDs up to 999....

    Hi Les,

    Thank you very much for your rapid response. I have left a shortcut for the web based Media Manager for the operators so that have a choice of which version to use. I also have the Virtual Panel up and running, Thank you. As soon as I read your response I remembered reading that in the notes, but had completely forgotten about it when I did the upgrade.

    Is there any fix to be able to get the 'Key PV' user assignment back, or is  that no-longer an option?
    Also, if I copy the switcher/sets/set_x/personality/panel_personality.settings file from a fixed set, to another one, am I likely to affect anything else? I'm guessing the Busmap is stored in that file as well? I don't fancy repeating the manual fix 50-60 times over, so if I can reuse part of that file it would save me a lot of time.

    Re: the Media Database limit: Is that now enforced at 999? Running version 13 we were up to about 1500, which worked fine within the mixer, but you couldn't type it into dashboard, you had to record it into the CC every time.

    Ugh... Well that was not intended... Key PV being missing that is..

    The Media Store UI has only been for 3 digits...  The digit "in front" was to point to the Internal stills or to the External USB...1.000 to 1.999
