I've considered building an Xpression TakeID that includes scripting to accomplish the same thing and firing that from a Custom Control, but I was hoping to make it as straightforward as possible.

I can Telnet in to Xpression and execute the command, but Carbonite doesn't recognize the command.

Any ideas?

Yes. It's on the 3rd page of the XPression RossTalk device in the Carbonite screen (hitting NEXT twice after selecting the crosspoint with the XPression RossTalk device assigned to it on the Carbonite Panel).

There you can set Chan, Layer and Clear. Just send that command while recording a custom control on the Carbonite and it will be recorded to the custom control.

If you have version 11 of Carbonite and version 8 of Dashboard you can also prepare this custom control in Dashboard in the Carbonite Custom Control menus. But you do have to add the XPression RossTalk device to Carbonite using the panel. That process is described in the Carbonite Setup manual, which you can download from the Carbonite section of the Ross website.

What about clearing every layer on a specific framebuffer? On the panel there's no option for all layers. I haven't checked the Dashboard for that yet.

I would setup a GPI to accomplish this inside of Xpression, then just have the Carbonite send a GPI the same way it would a take command.

You can clear the entire channel -- when your on the page and have the Action set to Clean press the Layer button and it will toggle to "ALL"

I was away for a couple of days and everything is solved! Thanks Garner, Les, Dave! This will clean up some Custom Controls for me. Plantassassin, I'll have to check out the GPI approach.
