I want to add a touch screen to my Carbonite with large labeled buttons that run Custom Controls.

Is DashBoard what I want to use to create this?

Or do I need ViewControl too?

    Hi Paul,

Either method will work for you. ViewControl will be more complicated though in that you will need the converters to/from the Display and to wire the computer display through the Carbonite frame. In return for that extra work ViewControl will give you live video feeds into your touch screen.

If all you really want though is to put a couple of buttons on screen and then push them to execute a custom control on Carbonite, that is very easily accomplished with DashBoard 6.0 or 6.1. Those versions are available for download on this page:

    http://www.rossvideo.com/terminal-equipment/opengear/control-monitoring/dashboard-beta.html

The quick summary of how to do what you have asked for in those versions of DashBoard is:

-create a new custom panel (File->New->New Custom Panel File)

    -Go into edit mode

-Add a button to the panel by selecting the button tool and dragging a region in the panel

-Add a RossTalk task to that button (use the 'CC' command)

That button will now send a command to run that Custom Control whenever it is pushed.
