In April 2017, Nigel Spratling announced the "Video Media Player" for the Carbonite Black Solo. Where can I find some information as to how this Video Media Player operates? I can't find any reference to it in any of the manuals.

Yes we announced that there would be a media player on the Solo. That was a Technology demonstration that we wanted to release by the end of 2017. Unfortunately the project has taken longer than anticipated. The Primary developer who was working on it is no longer with Ross Video and the team is working on picking up the code and implementing it to completion. Currently they are focused on getting Carbonite version 12.4 out.

This is an example of why when people ask what is coming next or what is the roadmap of the product it can be a bad idea to let things out to early. Based on the progress last year going into NAB we thought that it was further along than it was and should share that information with the user base seeing as we thought that it would be getting out before year end. That was not to be the case and we will be a little more careful in the future with announcements.

Yes we know it is there. It's almost like if we were to take it down then we would be trying to hide it or worse start another storm which is that -- They are abandoning a promise to the users. I am not sure what the best course is -- I will chat with some of the others to decide on what to do about it.

Well I would hope most people understand this happens sometimes. There are certainly a fair amount of companies who have become well known for vaporware promises, but I have not found ROSS to be in that group. Your honesty is well appreciated and the reputation of Ross is why I chose the Carbonite Solo over others. I am enjoying the features of the Solo so much that at the end of 2017 I added a CB9 panel to work in tandem with the Solo to allow remote switching for screens etc by other ops during shows. I do hope the project moves ahead, it really would enhance my workflow of the Carbonite Black Solo.

Yes we are still actively working on it. Getting closer but it is still not ready for release.
