Played around a bit with the RossTalk control of the switcher in v6.2. I telnet to the switcher and it accepts all commands, but the XPT command. Is there a limitation here? I tried for example XPT 1:1 to cut source 1 to aux 1, but no luck.

    Hi Martin,

that would be because that is the wrong command string for a XPT selection. Sorry about that. We will be uploading a new version of the document to the website with the full set. For now I will post a link via my dropbox account.

Once we get the one to the main list updated I will delete this.

Oh and by the way when you look at the reference you will see that where you have to add the number then a definition there is a : in-between. The italic font makes the r hang into the : at the top. At first glance this would appear to be a . but really it is a :

All separators in the RossTalk protocol here use : and not a .

    Thank you Les,

I still have problems with the XPT commands. If I try them the way I interpret the document a cut to source one on Aux 1 would be:

XPT IN:1:AUX:1 - this returns nothing from the switcher, can you perhaps give me a hint?

You won't get any kind of an ACK back. Does the switch not take place?

On the panel just set the Keybus to Aux1 and then watch the row as you send commands to it.

Sorry Les, bad explanation. No the switcher does not take the command/take any crosspoint. We tried a couple of variants, but no response.

Looks like our documentation is still wrong ;) Sorry about that.

Bus then Source not Source then Bus.

    Hi,

I am new to the community. I hope this is the appropriate thread for this post.

I have a basic dashboard panel I built to trigger functions on a Ross Vision. Currently I am able to run custom controls from dashboard. But I am unable to take a specific cross point. I would like to be able to take a cross point on an aux buss and on an M/E.

Is there a document that specifies exactly how to format the text in dashboard for Bus and Source?

    Thanks

    Bill

    Hi Bill

    http://www.rossvideo.com/pdf/cutsheets/carbonite-interface/RossTalk-Commands(4802DR-403-04).pdf

Use the "carbonite commands as they structure the same. Note that you will need to update you Vision to most current version so that the commands are fully supported

    Thanks Les,

That worked for an M/E XPT. I formatted it as: "XPT MLE: 1:PGM: IN: 3"

But I am unable to get it to work on an AUX. I wrote "XPT AUX: 2:8: IN: 3" and it didn't work

I am not sure how to format the command for different aux banks/bus. Did I overlook something?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Hi Bill,

For the Aux instead of using 2:8 for the Aux bank/bus to change try a single number.

    1-8 for Bank 1, Aux 1-8

    9-16 for Bank 2, Aux 1-8

    etc..

So, to change Bank 2, Aux 3 you would use:

    XPT AUX:11:IN:3

This should be available in Software Versions 16.1d

We are considering supporting the format you've described above in the future as it is more intuitive.

    Troy.

    Hi Troy,

I tried typing exactly what you wrote XPT AUX: 11:IN:3

    But it doesn't work.

The switcher is a Vision running 17.0b MD.

I tried adding the command as Custom type of command and as a XPT type of command. Neither works. But and MLE XPT does work.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Bill,

    My sincere apologies.

It turns out that there is a bug in the latest software builds surrounding that command.

We are going to have to fix the AUX command and release a new version.

I will also see about adding in support for the method that you were initially using as well since it is simpler to use.

    Troy.

    Thanks very much

What is the best way to find out when the update is released?

    Hi Bill,

I have a fix for the XPT AUX issue. The fix is in v17.0d which is slated for release the end of January. Let me know if this works for you.
