Frame Sync difference between 11.01 and 11.1

  • 1.  Frame Sync difference between 11.01 and 11.1

I was trying to frame sync a 480I video non synced signal in to my switcher using an AJA D10AD Analog to SDI converter. Using software version 11.1 I do not seem to get a lock and the picture is running up and to the left on the screen. Using software version 11.01 all works fine. Is there a difference in the way you are using the frame syncs between the two versions of software and is there a way to get a good lock with version 11.1.

What format is your switcher operating in? Also did you check that they are re-enabled?

The frame syncs are on. The format is 1080i/59.94 version 11.1 does not work when I use version 11.01 it does.

What model? Carbonite, Carbonite Plus, MM, Black, eXtreme???

What do you have the Modifier for the aspect ration set to? Have you tried different aspect ratios?

I have a Carbonite 1ME. I made a test to see if I was doing something wrong. I used a Panasonic DVC Prow for the test. The DVC Pro was not gen locket to my system. I used the SD SDI output and the Y- R-Y B-Y outputs into the AJA Analog to digital converter. Fed both inputs one at a time into the same input of the switcher. Turned on the frame sync for that input. With Version 11.1 The direct SDI out gen-locked fine and look good but the Y R-Y B-Y WITH THE AJA CONVERTER DID NOT. With Version 11.01 all worked fine on both outputs from the DVC Pro.

Okay -- so when you say 1 ME -- is it a Standard or a plus? is there only 6 FSFC or does everyone have one?

I'm also experiencing a similar problem, although I am seeing it on 2 frame synced sdi inputs. Using a standard carbonte.

Well version 11.01 was not meant for anything but Carbonite Black :) Version 11.1 was tested on the other platforms and when we introduced the new Bitfile that has the FSFC with MiniME. This seems to be an issue with the changes in that mode that enabled having both. We will look into it further but we are having a hard time replicating an issue. We don't have AJA converters -- are you converting Composite or Component (not that it matters just trying to find something to try to replicate your issue)?

I was off last week. If you want I can send you one of my spare AJA converters for testing. As I said I am going Component to SDI. Let me know if that will help.

Our guys were looking into it -- but this week everyone is off for the Christmas break. Monday I will make sure they follow up using one of our Component to SDI Dropdowns. If they can't recreate it I will take you up on the offer of the AJA.

This was recreated with the help of the OP sending us a spare unit. This product does some weird things in the VANC and with Regards to the Switch Line. We have implemented the fix in version 12 which is currently in PV. Hoping to release this around NAB time frame.
