I've been looking to play videos on my graphite server channels via VDCP control. What will the ip/port settings be to interface?

What is the device that your trying to do the control from?

Your XPression Media Control Gateway has an AMP tab and a VDCP tab. Default port is 9091 for VDCP on XPression. The IP is the IP of the windows system.

Trying to control it from Dashboard. I loaded in the example VDCP panel and looked like i was unable to connect. I'm using Dasboard on another computer though so that may be the issue. I'll try to integrate it into my created buttons and see.

Where is the VDCP example panel that you refer to? I will check it out as to why it does not work.

Also, when you say Windows system, Should i be directing to my public IP address, or the one of the graphite (192.168.0.113)?

Also, am i going about this the right way? When i used RossTalk to play videos through Xpression they would only play in the frame buffer where as i needed them to play on my server channels.

The Computer that is running DashBoard that needs to send commands to the XPression IP address. So your windows machine had multiple NIC cards. If you have the 192.168.0.113 plugged into a NETWORK and the DashBoard PC is also on that same network then you can use that IP address. If the computer that your trying to run this from is not on the same network as the 192. range then your going to need to point to the other IP address and network that the PC and XPression are on.

I just tested this panel against a unit in the dev lab. It works just fine. I got a clip list and could load to the channels and then sent the play commands. So it works.

Second question about RossTalk -- When you make Sequencer Take IDs you would then want to make sure to assign those to Server Channels not Frame Buffers. Then with RossTalk commands when you configure the Panel you have to use the SEQI I Command and only specify the Take ID and leave Channel and Layer set to SEQ selections.

When you use the TAKE Command it always requires that you specify the ID channel and Layer. I will have to talk to the XPression Dev team to see if the server channels will work via the RossTalk Protocol this way. Or if we need to add some functionality. That said I have tried the VDCP App and it just works so I would suggest trying it.

There is also a Purchasable VDCP ShotBox DashBoard Application that also works.

Currently the VDCP Visual Logic device does not have VARIABLE Play in it. We will look at adding it when we can.

Think your going to be best to visit the DashBoard Forum with that question :). It is getting beyond my usual abilities and into setting up listeners and parsing data :)
