Well what would be best to do there is to setup a DashBoard Proxy Server (or more than 1 depending on needs after evaluating requirements) which will allow you to select which devices are to be "Shared" by the server to Clients connecting to it...
Then you can pick which PORT the Proxy Server is sharing on and you will only need to open that port between your VPN clients and the Proxy Server. This is also better for instances where small connection dropouts can take place as the data is cached on the proxy server and will be delivered from it to the clients.

Hi Les,
If I want to use Dashboard over VPN to access all my Ross products, what ports and protocols do I need to request be opened from my IT staff? Our organization has a VPN, but they keep it fairly narrow. Thanks in advance.

Subject: Carbonite Ultra Dashboard connections
Hi Jimmy,
Sorry for the late reply.... There is no official number that can be connected. As more and more connections are established then the system needs to update them one by one when changes occur... So this time can increase as more and more are added.
Using the DashBoard Proxy Server you can setup a DashBoard client running on a PC to be the "gateway" for all the other connections. This would place the "load" on that PC and then only be a single connection between the Carbonite and DashBoard. This is also the best way to connect "remote clients" that are accessed via VPN... Once local machine connects them to the Carbonite.
