  • 1.  Acuity AFV Setting for Transition Keys?

    Posted 07-29-2019 14:12

Our Acuity switcher works in conjunction with Overdrive and automation powered Calrec Summa. However, in some instances we would like to be able to switch manually. Currently the way we are set up, whenever we use a manual transition key (CUT, Auto Trans, Etc.) it snaps all of the faders on our audio board closed. If we just hot punch on our PGM BUS, audio is unaffected, Any thoughts? Ideally, we would be able to use transition keys manually without our audio being adversely affected. I assume this is a setting of some kind? Thanks for any advice you can offer!

    Hi Kendra,

Acuity does have an insert special event for enabling and disabling the AFV...However this will not work directly with the PGM ME as it will reset this as soon as a Cut/Auto event is run......

If you use an ME that is re-entered into the PGM ME then it will work just fine and allow you to disable the AFV with a custom control to perform all of your switching....Once you run a transition on the PGM ME it will "snap" back into AFV ON mode once again.

Hope this will be able to work for you.

    Thanks, Les.

I think I am following you.

Even if we use a separate switcher profile for these instances, there isn't a way to just disassociate the automation from the audio board through some sort of installation or personality setting? Our thinking is that this would be useful in an Overdrive failure, which we have experienced. Then, we can just switch manually and stay on the air and run the audio fully manually. Any further thoughts are appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi Kendra,

Well if you would like to "cut" the cord so to speak all together then yes you could disable the Audio Mixer interface in the Installation Menu.  Then have a setup file that is identical but without the Audio Mixer configured.  Then you could just load the installation and have it run without control of the audio mixer.

I understood the request as a want to be able to do this temporarily on the fly and switch it back in on the fly.
