  • 1.  Scaling M/E1 through a MiniME DVE key

    Posted 05-22-2014 15:06
I've taken the plunge on v8 and sacrificed my FSFCs for MiniME. This is a huge help for me as I can use the DVE function on the MiniME in order to provide some output scaling for structural displays at live events that don't fit a traditional 16:9 frame.

However, I need some help regarding my workflow. I can assign input sources to the DVE keyer of MiniME1, but not the M/E itself. Is there any way to get the M/E onto the MiniME key, without physically looping back the M/E into the console as an additional input (this is my current hack.)

    Thanks,

    Rob.

    Hi Rob,

You can definitely send MEs into the MiniME DVE keys. In you tests what is the background source for the MiniME and which ME are you trying to send to the MiniME DVE?

There are rules for signal flow that may be the issue, here is a Dropbox link to a document that explain what is allowed... https://www.dropbox.com/s/7037clcsdktlytn/MiniME%20Signal%20Flow.pdf.

Are you using MultiScreen mode for your outputs?

When testing I was dialled into Black on both MiniME preview and background.

    I'm on a Carbonite 1, so I only have M/E1.

Can I infer from your helpful diagram, that since I only have one M/E on my console, I only have the first three available "time slots" in my workflow?

    Hi Rob,

If you only have 1ME occupies the ME2 timing slot. all other slots work but of course there is no ME1.

I just tested this again on my Carbonite and can route the ME PGM out into MiniME DVE's or Backgrounds without any issue. I also put it into MultiScreen mode with quad outputs and can span the ME PGM across all 4 outs or put it into a DVE that floats across the displays.

So I am not sure what the problem you are seeing is.

If you have skype, feel free to ping me at nspratling.rossvideo.

    Thanks for your patience Nigel.

Having reoriented myself with the Dashboard software I can see how straightforward it is to assign PGM to any of the MiniME layers. I also see how to dial the PGM into my BusMap for easy mapping when my Dashboard is closed.

    Thanks,

    Rob.

Is there a reason all these documents are coming from dropbox folders?

As a newcomer to Ross/Carbonite i'm finding the documentation increasingly frustrating.

    Hi Carlos,

The reason is simply that dropbox makes it easy to share documents and items quickly while also trying to improve access through the website or community.
