    Greetings,

I've read up on certain aspects of this topic, but I still haven't found the answer we have been looking for; How do we setup a clean feed on a Carbonite Panel?

We want to use it to theoretically split our switcher output during Severe Weather. The idea is that we would have ME1 in program on ME2 underneath 3 keys (a full-screen background, a large box that also has ME1 in it, and a small box that would have network programming in it). The clean feed would have no keys on it and go to our non-network station. The regular feed with Severe WX boxes would go to the network station. We would switch via ME1, that way the coverage looks identical on both stations (minus the boxes and live event, of course), and only use ME2 to cut between boxes and full-screen for breaks.

In theory we think this would work, but were unsure where to go from here. How do we setup a clean feed output from the switcher? Is it more complex then were thinking it is, or just an obscure feature?

Any help would be appreciated. I am fairly new when it comes to working with switchers, so I might be in over my head just a little bit.

    Thanks!

    Okay So here goes :).....

Assing an output to be the CLN.  Now on the system tab make sure to set your ME 2 Clean Feed position to be before Key 1.

Now you would be setting up your PGM ME to be including all of the keyers when you are cutting between the two and always remember to make sure that the ME1 is under the Key1 when you go back to the boxes...

    Key 3 - Box 2

    Key 2 - Box 1

Key 1 - Full Screen BKGD....

BKGD - same source as Box 1

PST - Next source you will Cut out too.

Okay -- what would probably be easier though  :)  would be to put a MiniME downstream of ME 2.  Put ME 2 into Key 1 Box 1 and Box 2 with your other source....Then you have your background on BKGD....

In that case you would have an output that is PGM and then another that is MiniME x (lets say 4) which would be what they select for the breaking weather :)

Now you can run your show how you always run the show and not have to work around the fact that you tied up ME2 for the boxes.

Les, Thanks so much for the advice!

It never occurred to me to utilize a MiniME in this scenario.

It also occurs to me that I answered my own question without meaning to.

At any rate, thanks for the quick response!
