  • 1.  Acuity DVE channels in the 21st century...

    Wow,

I read the Acuity's DVE channels will not fly a keyable source without burning a second dve channel.

If I have 4 channels of DVE I can only fly 2 keyable sources?

Wow - I accept that from an old Vision switcher but Ross's latest best switcher???  C'mon... nobody else still does that with DVE channels - especially on a flagship product?

Furthermore, the Acuity panel looks identical to Vision except for more keyers... am I crazy?

Please tell me I am crazy...

    Hi Robert

Sorry for the lack of a response...We switched Community back ends and I did not realize I have to re-follow the forums.

Anyway--- Acuity has 16 Channels of 2D DVE per ME......That is 2 channels per Keyer.....We could have called them 8 channels but since we have the ability to do a 2 Box in a keyer we are able to have 16 Boxes in a single ME...

Now 3D DVE option cards are 2 channels cards with Alpha Channels...However again our Alpha channels are Full Bandwidth capable (some DVEs only have Half bandwidth for the alpha since they are only dealing with LUMA) with that we allow a user to again perform a 2 Box in a single keyer and thus only using up 1 of the 2 channels on the Card thanks to the Key combiner on the DVEs.....

So to you're comment it is really about how we position the product to be able to access all the resources and allow the operator to use them to the fullest instead of "hiding" channels and reserving them for Alpha....

Acuity Panels actually have 2 variants.  There is the Single Row panels that are "similar" to vision but yes more keyers, Left side is top modular as well.  New larger Menu screen, On Panel Menu Module so that knobs and buttons are no on the screen allowing for the operator to keep hands on the panel and not always have to reach up to the screen.  Also the Mnemonics were changed to Full RGB mnemonics.

The Panel CPU sled was also upgraded to current spec hardware and does have HDMI and DVI connections.  The Menu panel and Aux Backsplash are able to take power from the panel and not require external bricks.

Finally we have the Double Down versions that offer Dual Key Rows.  Dual Mnemonics on the rows -- Row Select LCD buttons and a lot of extra fast assignment functions via these.

So the panels are not exactly the same but a lot of items are found in the same places and make it really easy to control the product.
