Hi, back from IBC I realized, that I have forgotten to talk about future capabilities of Carbonite Ultra hardware, in particular the featureset of the dves. I know that there were no possibilies i. e. to upgrade classic carbonite familiy switchers to 3d dve because of missing hw resources. But with Carbonite Ultra set up on brand new FPGA hw, can you give an outlook whether to expect an upgrade at some point in the future to 3d dves or even take sfx into account like defocus or what we use to call "so to say filmook" - that means a frame or field-skip to achieve a half framerate cluttering video - highly utilized by many of our german multi camera directors. Or would you say that the hardware is again limited to the present featureset of 2D only DVEs FOREVER (like with carbonite/black/plus hardware)? Thanks in advance Sefa Aydemir

    Hello Sefa,

3D DVE is not possible in the Carbonite Ultra either.  However some things like the Pre Processor effects are things that could be looked into for future releases.  Yes doing a 2 Gate Strobe effect (for a proper Film look you need to alternate with a 3-1 and 3-2 between live and frozen frames) also some other items like colourize and Posterize might also be possible.

We will make sure to add it to the requests.

    Hi Les,

thanks for your answer. Ok, a true 3D DVE with free rotation axis will not come, i see.

But what about the ability to rotate images in fixed 90 degree-steps in z-axis only and/or mirror-flip the image? Would that be possible? We have 2 shows where there are some screens in portrait mode, however our customers often don't deliver fitting content. I remember some user here in the community, who had the same question regarding the "classic" carbonite black/plus series.

    Regards

    Sefa
