  • 1.  Unlinking Media Store channels

    This may be an easy answer that has just escaped me, but the manuals and videos aren't very clear on this... How do I use Media Stores 1 & 3 for fill+key and Media Stores 2 & 4 as individual still/clip stores? I want to have 1 channel of replay moves and 2 channels of still/clip store. I've done shows where I didn't *have* to have that, but I've wanted it available if possible.

    Hi Tim,

    You just load the channels.  1 will use 3 when it has an graphic or animation that has an Alpha channel embedded in the file (ie it is a 32 bit file instead of a 24 bit file).

    Note that the switcher defaults to using the "media wipe" for channel 2/4 but you just select channel 1/3 in the GUI or by holding down the Media Wipe button in the Trans Area and using the PST bus to select the the M1 source (when it turns blue on the row).

    So the other trick then is if you have something that has an alpha that you do not want to use (and you don't have the ability to export it and drop the alpha)

    Load channel 2 first then load channel 4 that will kick the alpha out of it....that said you have to load 2 first otherwise 2 will kick out 4....

    Good to know. I want to say I tried that before but again, the still may have been 32-bit.
