Hi Justin, there are a few things to look out for.

    1. Ensure port numbers on sender and receiver are the same.

    2. Check that there is no firewall blocking the port. It will be useful to use a terminal utility (eg. https://www.hw-group.com/software/hercules-setup-utility) to ensure that the RossTalk commands are going through. The terminal utility can act as either a sender of receiver to narrow down where the issue lies.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Justin,

Have you reached out to Resi?  I sent them a support request and they got back to me with documentation.  Now I have asked them questions regarding the Docs as there is some "clarity" regarding what the command really is... that said we can try a few.

Next you are not sharing much detail about what you are trying to control.  Their support informs me that they only control the Decoders no Encoder control.  Are you just trying to control the Decoder?  if so is this a Decoder in ProPresenter?  or is this one of their standalone Decoders?

Which commands are you trying to achieve?  Which Carbonite Engine is this?  Which version of Software is it on?  Have you tried to use DashBoard to build a custom panel to send the commands to confirm that they work?  Or using a terminal app like Aaron suggested were you able to confirm that you can trigger the desired events?

    Les,
I am trying to control the play and pause of standalone decoder. I have not reached out to Resi but did find Rosstalk command via their website (bank 1 control 1 and control 2). I utilizing a Carbonite Solo 1 and I not currently where I can get the software version but will update post when I have it. I have not attempted custom panel via Dashboard or term app. I still trying to confirm with IT if port has fire wall. Full disclosure I am Noob to Ross and video production. I have been thrown into it and having to learn on the fly. Also trying to work smarter not harder so when I found we could control Resi I went down rabbit hole even though I know very little to begin with.

Okay -- I totally do not believe that info makes any sense from their website....

2 things -- Make sure you are attaching the Device to the Input that the decoder is on.  That is done in the Panel Mini Menu screen.  Menu - Config - Input - Next -

Knob 1 will select the source.  then on Knob two you click on it to select the device that you setup.

Based on what they have listed for commands I would suggest you setup a "XPN" device and try using the NEXT and READ commands.

I would use this Ross U video as the basis to setup and configure the device... especially turn off the "Roll Clip" option in the device config.  you don't need to be sending the next command when taking to air every time :)
