    I've been using a 1 gig thumb drive to load animations and stills into my Carbonite switcher. Everything is working fine. My question is ... does the storage device have to be SSD or can you use a spinning disk external drive? Also, is there any size limit to the hard drive that the switcher will see?

    You will be limited to the Portable type USB Drives that are able to power off of the single USB.  Note that you are also going to have to format the Drive as FAT32.

     

    I have used 2TB drives before.

    Is there any limitation as whether the usb connector is USB 2.0, 3.0 or 3.1?

    They will work but you are only going to be seeing USB 2.0 Speeds.
