  • 1.  Best Practise - External or Internal DashBoard?

    Posted 06-29-2020 23:02

    Just a question...
We've got a Graphite, with Xpression Graphite Studio SCE installed, DataLinq and Xpression Tessera SE installed... Now I'm 100% reliant on this working perfectly, cant really afford a backup system etc (small scale hockey arena production).

I'm currently running DashBoard on an external PC, and it's working great! The only issue I really have is that the DashBoard and Xpression projects share some graphics etc, and they need to be in sync.
I've been thinking about running a KVM sollution and simply use the graphite as my DashBoard PC as well, simply omitting the entire prospect of having an external PC running DashBoard.
I'm just wondering, how far could I push this Xpression and DashBoard combination on a Graphite?
What would be my best sollution for setting it up? Sadly adding a NAS is not an option, as thanks to the COVID-19 situation, the economy is pretty much completly shot...

    Is this common practise?
    Experiences?
Will the performance bar in Xpression reflect into DashBoard?
Will I take performance from the Xpression?
    Will DashBoard perform slower?

I use DashBoard on the Same PC as a Graphite all the time.

There is lot's of memory and bandwidth to do this.  Many of the the E3 Schools run dashboard on the same XPression machine.

However if your issue is just that you would like to access the file (Images) you don't need a "NAS" but rather you could just make Network Shares of your Folders or the entire D Drive on the Graphite to share with the DashBoard Machine.
