This may be directed to Les who assisted me in getting this configured, but I'll post it here for general discussion.

Les assisted in getting my instance of Xpression CG to communicate with my Touch Drive custom controls, to allow a CC to recall a GFX to the media player using the Xp graphics ID. This allows me to call up lower 3rds in random order via a CC. For my installation, a port needed to be opened by Facilities IT, and once that was accomplished, it worked well.

All through the first show rehearsal, the CCs worked as expected. When the show began, they did not. The CC had no influence on the CG sequence list. Following the show, I built the sequence for the next show and rebuilt all the CCs and everything worked. When I came in today, they were not working. I again rebuilt everything and they were working again. This is where it gets freaky.

The CC would work for an hour or so, then fail. Then an hour or so later, they would work again. This is without anyone reconfiguring, rebuilding, or any other action. Working before lunch ... not working after lunch.

The building is pretty much still in COVID lockdown, mostly empty, so I don't imagine there is anyone pulling and reinserting ethernet cables anyplace.

    Any ideas?

    Danny

Unless someone is changing the IDs of the the items in the sequence then rebuilding the the XPression Sequencer Items should not change things..

I would suggest making a couple of buttons for UP and DOWN and NEXT commands.  Use those to move the sequencer up and down.  If this happens again use those buttons to see if the sequencer in XPression will move at all...  At least this way you will confirm that the commands are getting through...

The network is pretty locked down and it is possible that something is up and still blocking events after some time??

This issue continues. Here is what I tried:

    • I created an UP and DOWN CC. (Devices/RossTalk Xpression/RossTalk/Sequence Down or Up)
      • These did not control the sequence
    • I rebooted the PC XP lives on.
    • I tried UP and DOWN a different XP file
    Very strange, no?

None of the above has resolved the issue. And to restate, this function comes and goes randomly. There is no other operator on either the switcher of Xpression. However, Xpression and Dashboard are running on the same PC.

It has to be network related Danny ...

The IT people should be able to see the network traffic from the switcher setting up the connections.

Also after this is happening you can grab the logs we can look at it... but I am positive that it is a network issue..

Another idea could be that the GPI board is not active in XPression.  I would check on that and make sure the GPI Board in edit hardware setup in Xpression is turned on and active in order to receive commands. - I would also try to ping the carbonite frame from xpression.  If you are able to ping the carbonite then in theory you have communication (there are exceptions).  Then it is just adding the Xpression as a device in the carbonite and then having the GPI board active in Xpression.  Making sure the ports are correct both places, default typically always works.

The odd thing is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't with no operation reconfigurations or changes in between. We are looking into a local IT issue.
