  • 1.  Custom Control Recall with DVE

    Posted 05-05-2022 15:54
    Hi all,
I am stuck figuring something out. It pertains to using a CC to recall an effect that contains a DVE move.

    In a simplified example:
    • Memory 1 has a DVE box keyed over a camera.  This memory sets the effect up.
    • Memory 2 has an effects rate 400 move putting the DVE box in motion.

I want to build a custom control that sets up the effect, does a hold, then runs the effect on the second button press. What I have found in both manually building the CC as well as using the "watch me" record function, is the DVE move "takes" to its end position in Memory 2. It does not do the 400 frame move.

Can anyone assist? What am I missing?

    Thanks.

Another option is to use STATE insertions to effectively "Keyframe" in the Custom Control Directly...  That is why you see the State Inclusions..  Make sure you set up all of the inclusions for each ME and MINIme to not include the items you don't want to change before you insert the State into the CC...  if you don't like the result or you see something change after that you want to change...  Run the single event as it will recall the state... then go tweak the inclusions and then Insert the State again and delete that other state keyframe.

    Les,
Thanks. I see State in Special on CC. Can you give me a little info on what state does? I'm unclear on how to implement it.

Basically when you Insert that Event it will be like storing a Memory into the Custom Control ... Kind of like Key Frames on other switchers.

When in the editor you will see a tab for State Attributes at the bottom...  Those are your "levels" that it will recall with that keyframe.  So just like storing a memory make sure to set the attributes first. Then Insert the State.

So first even of the CC would be to Insert the starting State (with attributes enabled for things that should change and those that should not change be cleared out... yes means a lot of cleared out attributes usually... make sure all MEs / MiniMEs / Aux / General etc that you don't want recalling are set to Off)

Then you have a Hold ...

Second Insert State with EFFs Dissolve Mode and the 400 frames.. (again all of the attributes set accordingly for this keyframe..)

Now normally you might have something happen after that keyframe just note that you are required to add a pause for the duration you want to wait (or a hold if it would always be longer than the 400 frames..)  Basically since it is in a CC it is not going to wait for that 400 frame EFF Dissolve to complete before moving on the the next events -- which is good as maybe while half way through that you want to trigger a device or another screen etc...

So just always keep in mind that with State recalls you need to account for the duration "after" the fact... same as if you would have done it with memories before in Vision.
