  • 1.  Split/Quad Box, etc. Best way to handle and call up?

Hey guys. I've been enjoying the switcher and as we go, we are trying various new things. I followed one of the tutorials around setting up things like quad box, split screens and having it transition in using memory and recall. Is there a role for AUX sources in all of this? Can I setup a MiniME with the look and layout I want, then store that as an AUX to then quickly jump to that layout on the fly?

I am on a Carbonite Ultra and mainly looking to find out the typical and interesting uses of the AUX channels.

    Thanks!

Good day, Christopher. I assume you're referring to Aux buses on Carbonite Ultra? They have lots of potential uses, including some that you mention. As you probably know, Aux buses are internally-routable source buses that can be used for feed DVE boxes, mapped to buttons, or even distributed externally as outputs to monitors, etc. For something like a quad-box, instead of delegating specific sources to each box, Aux buses could be used instead. Then, changing the source in the box would be a simple matter of selecting the desired source on the Aux bus. Of course, the same thing could be achieved using Custom Control macros and in some instances, that may actually be more efficient.
Your comment about storing a MiniME layout in an Aux is not quite accurate. I think you would probably set up your MiniME (or full ME, for that matter) as you wish, with whatever input sources, backgrounds, keys, etc. selected, and then save that in a Memory. That memory could then be recalled directly, or included as part of a Custom Control macro. Assuming the proper Inclusions were set up, the Memory Recall would not only recall the ME setup, but also the sources, key parameters, transition types and durations, etc.
There is a tutorial specifically devoted to saving and recalling Memories on our Ross University site under Carbonite Black. https://www.rossvideo.com/gallery/store-recall-memories/
Hope that helps and let us know if you have further questions.
