It is a great idea to update to the latest version of Ross Video Carbonite Ultra software. Our Product Development Team make a huge number of improvements with each release and updating allows you to take advantage of this.
1) There won't be any problems updating your software. However, rather than updating to 5.0.6, why don't you update to the current version which is 5.5.2? This is downloadable from here -

2) Yes, your Ross Carbonite Black 1ME control panel work will after this update.
3) You do not need to have the RAVE Audio license or additional FSFC license to use the HD-SRC mode on an input. The HD-SRC function is much-appreciated by many users as it allows you to maintain embedded audio even when applying Frame Sync to an input.
4) It will be possible to load your switcher setup, from your USB drive, after update but there may be a few areas that are not fully covered and may need slight adjustment due to the huge jump in performance and control that the update gives you.
5) If you still have your copy of software version 3.0.3 on a USB drive then, then you can re-install that older version and 'move back', should you find that there are problems when you upgrade to the latest software. Again, I would recommend that you move to the latest software which is 5.5.2. Do contact our superb Technical Support Team should you have any problems. We are planning to update our 2nd RossVideo Carbonite Ultra the next week. I have various question in terms of the switcher.
1) Currently, the switcher software version is 3.0.3, Won't be any problems to update dircetly to version 5.0.6?
2) We have Ross Carbonite Black 1ME Control Panel, I was wondering will the switcher work with the panel after updating?
3) I have noticed that HD-SRC mode are available after update, we have not got RAVE Audio license or FSFC Licensce on the switcher, the very question is that will embbedded audio pass through the switcher even FSFC applied on inputs?
4) In time to updating I will save the switcher setup on the removable disc, will it be available to load after update?
5) If I failed to update the switcher from 3.0.3 to 5.0.6, How can I get back to its older version ?
