Hi.. we're running Xpression 7 and Xpression 8 (hoping to get all on the same version soon)  I'm trying to find where one activates the Event Marker but I can't find it as an option anywhere on the Object inspector... HELP!?!?!?

never mind.. found them.. NOW... trying to figure out how to use it... 

I want to be able to put a graphic on air and trigger the animation manually for timing.. can the Event Marker do that for me?

It sounds like maybe you want to do a pause / continue type of deal? If so, when you right click on a track in your scene director you can choose Add Clip -> Event -> Pause. You can drag it around to be in the exact position you want, and if you double click on it, a settings panel will pop up with numerous options you can dial in.  At default, it will cause the scene to pause when played out of the sequencer, and will continue at the operator's discretion.

Also, definitely be careful when using different versions.  Older stuff will always open on newer versions without issue, but going the opposite direction can be VERY problematic.  So, make sure all of your 'creation' is done on 7 until you have parity.

and once again.. thank you Willie Frazier... Now that I understand how to make it run after a pause.. it takes me a minute to figure it out.... this will do exactly what I want it to do for now.   We're keeping it simple to begin with.  Can you tell me what "wait for key" means?... what key are they talking about?... we didn't get that in the training and I can't find a reference to it.. And you are fast becoming my FAVOURITE Xpression person.. 

I don't see an option for 'Wait for Key' in my director event settings, but then I am currently on 7.3, so maybe this is an Version 8 thing?

I see.  I've never used that panel, though its possible the operators I make stuff for do.  By default with pause points, if you hit the Period key to cue up the scene, and then hit the Enter key to take the scene, once the pause point has been reached, simply hitting Enter again will advance it to the next pause point or the end of the controllers, whatever comes first.
