Hey Sean, there's 2 different things here.
1 is the "off the shelf" workflow using a sequencer gateway and remote sequencer.
This video gives a high-level overview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXwyG17sISM
The API workflow I was talking about is people building their own interfaces and workflows talking directly to the BlueBoxes (and other supported versions).

Appreciate that info, thank you. I'm intrigued by your description of a non-MOS environment gateway/Remote Sequencer. Do you know if there is any documentation on that workflow or the API control that you mentioned? I've often wondered if Remote Sequencer could accept remote API calls, as that could be a solution to one of our automation issues.

XPression studio can have more channels but not with that card, you'll need to change to another card. It depends on your version of XPression but cards from Bluefish, AJA and Matrox are supported. If you want 4 channels of key and fill you'll also need an XPression Studio Flex license as standard Studio is 3 channels of key and fill.
Regarding bluebox it's also the same requirements. Bluebox can be used outside of a MOS environment using Remote Sequencer and a non-MOS version of the gateway or API application control.

Hey all, currently we have a two channel XPression Studio setup using a Matrox XMIO2 dual channel output card in a 4RU box. Was wondering if it's possible to add another dual channel card in order to get 4 output channels in one Xpression Studio instance? I know a BlueBox instance is usually used for that, but I'm only familiar with that in a NRCS/MOS environment, which we do not currently have. If BlueBox is the only option, can it be controlled outside of the MOS environment?
Thanks
