Hi Malcolm. I am thinking of using a box mask to crop a large graphic that will be playing out of Tessera. It would need to split from the very center and look like it is hiding/cropping as the screen opens up from the center then closes back up. Like drapes that you would open then close up. The graphic would have animation and not a static image. Looking to make it look like the split at the center hides/crops the graphic and not pushing it to the left and right. Does that make any sense?

    Hi Michele,

Two ways come to mind. Two masks, one for each of the "curtains". You could animate them easily on the X axis, or set the anchor point on the outer edge if you want to scale them instead. Second would be a mask the same size as the display. Anchor point in the center, and animate on the X scale to reveal the video. You would start with scale X = 0 and then scale out to full scale. Let me know if I'm missing the point. Have fun.

Thank you Malcom for your message back. I will try what you have suggested. I know you can keyframe a mask. So as far as the Box Mask. How would you keyframe that?

Apply the mask material to a quad. Default anchor is in the very center. Scale up to cover entire scene. Set x scale to zero and keyframe. Then advance your time to let's say 30 frames. Set X scale to max scale and keyframe. Mask will now squeeze out from center to both edges. Play with interpretation to have it ease in to the stop point.
