  • 1.  Cahnging Switcher Mode for Carbonite Ultra

    Posted 08-31-2023 05:47

    Hello,

we have a Carbonite Ultra 7.0.3 running in HD 4 Key mode and we would like to switch to HD ROT 4 Key to test the new feature (rotating outputs). I've looked into the switcher modes table and it seems to use the same number of resources. The only differences are in Input FSFCs and Output FCs.

Do I risk breaking something when switching to the new mode? Is it as simple as doing a mouse click? Is there a chance of losing memories/CCs?

    Thank you

Always recommended to save the switcher setup to a usb that is plugged into the frame.

This change will have the system reboot and load a different FPGA configuraiton.  Your memories and Custom controls should not be affected.  You may have to do some work in configuration with regards to assigning FSFCs that are now "floating" vs fixed to every I/O..

Thanks Les for your reply. So basically there will be a limited number of I/O that can have FSFC assigned. I don't think that would be a problem so we will try the new setup in few days and get back with the results.

    Cheers!

    Hello Les,

So today I had a small window and I tested the HD 4 key Rot mode. The rotating outputs work and there are only 3 format control unavailable (on the last 3 outputs that Support rotation). But I had to revert to previous mode because there were no more frame sync options in Inputs menu. Unfortunately I haven't got more time for testing,  because we are almost non stop on air.  Am I missing something? It didn't cross my mind at that moment to do a screen shot of the menu.

    Thanks

When you are in a mode that does not have enough conversion for every I/O (or your not licensed for all...) then you have to use the Reference menu to first Assign them to the I/O where you would like them..

    Covered in the manual Here:

    https://help.rossvideo.com/ultra/Tasks/Setup/Video/IO-Proc/IOProc.html?hl=reference%2Cmenu

Once you assign them to inputs..

now you will be able to enable and configure them:

Thank you, Les. You are always prompt and your responses are extremely  clear.

(I should really learn to read the manuals first before asking questions)
