  • 1.  Call the control of a robotic head with a custom control

    Posted 11-22-2024 08:28

    Hello !

I have 13 robotic heads on my set and my panel has only 12 buttons. So I would like to know if it's possible to take the control of a camera thanks to a custom control ?

Also, I would like to know if it is possible to change the direction of the track axis on my Furio (INVERT check box) with the customs controls too ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards.

    Hi Arnaud,

In SmartShell 6.0 we added a feature called Camera Groups.  Camera groups allow the operator to pick and choose which cameras are available and assigned them to specific numbered buttons on the joystick.  Please see page 22 of the SmartShell User Guide.  The SmartShell User Guide can be accessed by clicking on the ? in the bottom right hand corner of the SmartShell UI.  Here is a screenshot of the Camera Group edit feature.

The INVERT feature can be turned on with the checkbox as you mentioned.  It can also be selected in joystick mode within SmartShell and save to a user setting file (.usetting).  User settings are described on page 91 of the SmartShell User Guide.
Alternatively, MATRIX mode sounds like it might be a good option for you.  This mode in SmartShell will allow you to select the camera you want to use and perform a specific action.  See page 74 of the SmartShell User Guide.
Regarding DashBoard Custom Controls, I have previously created custom .grid panels using RossTalk to execute presets. Based on that experience, I believe it may be possible to control your 13th robotic head and potentially configure the invert setting as well. However, please note that custom panels fall outside the scope of support provided by this forum.
Please let me know if you would like a member of our Rocket Surgery team to contact you to discuss a custom panel design tailored to your specific application.

Thank you Tim for your complete answer.

I can't use the feature called Camera Groups since I need to be able to control all the 13 cameras at the same time.

Concerning the direction of the track, I need to switch very quickly too, since the Furio shot at 360°. So, for one side of the track, we use the "ordinary" mode and for the otherside of the track, we use the "INVERT" mode to have the same feeling.

Maybe, I could perform this with a Stream Deck but as I already have a shot box from Ross, I think it would be better not to add a third equipment.

Are you able to move this discussion to the entreprise control community if it 's more appropriate ? Otherwise, I open a new discussion.

    Thanks again !

    Regards.

    Hi Arnaud,

The forum doesn't permit me to move discussion threads around.  You would need to make a new post.

Your invert might be possible with a shotbox.  I understand not wanting to add a Stream Deck.

It sounds like a custom panel would be the best option for you if the shotbox does not have the capability you are looking for.
