  • 1.  Can Xpression clip server be converted to a regular studio?

    Posted 3 hours ago

I have a random question for the community here...we recently purchased a few Xpressions, one of them was a clip server that we thought would operate the same as our other xpression studio however it does not....are we able to convert that to a regular xpression studio version?

We basically get a project file from ESPN and we thought we could use the clip server like a dedicated spot box for TD elements and load that project file but it doesn't load project files and the workflow is quite cumbersome exporting elements from the xpression studio to pull over to the clip server...can the clip server box just be converted into a regular studio? Is it just a software/license config?

Yes, I don't think we realized that it operated differently than a regular Xpression Studio. The program it's running is "Xpression Clips" and just has  key/fill outputs

I think it will be possible to get a license for it, do you have someone at Ross you usually speak to about licensing?

You can pay to have the XPression Clips license upgraded to an XPression Studio license. Once the license if upgraded you/Ross Comissioner would uninstall Clips and install Studio and reconfigure, you can re-use the IO config from Clips for Studio.
The part code we typically use:

XPression Clips Dual Channel to XPression Studio Standard (3ch) - XPN-UPG-XCLD-XST3

You can request this upgrade from your Ross Sales Representative.
