  • 1.  Capture freeze frame/still with custom control on Acuity?

    Posted 06-29-2022 11:40
I have an Acuity and want to create a macro that captures a still from a video source, applies it to a DVE keyer, moves it around, and then replaces it with the live video source. However, I'm not sure if or how I can capture the still from video in a custom control, since this process has to be automated to work. Any suggestions?

Also, this process would have to work with only a few frames delay, since the video source has text that is being read live. :)

    Hi Bryan,

You can record the capture command from the menu..  Start Recording the CC and then go to that menu and capture the source.

You could make the DVE Move a DVE sequence.  Again something that you can load via a CC as well...

Maybe make a few items different CCs and then in the main Custom Control call those events and run them with pauses or Holds between the events as needed.

Thanks, Les. I just discovered this while playing with it, but when displaying the still store and using the capture macro I created, it takes about 4 full seconds for the new captured image to display, and I think that's longer than I can accomodate.

Any tricks to speeding up the capture-to-display time?

Have you tried using the Capture to RAM option instead?

Capture to disk will capture to the drive and then load it back into the channel.  Capture to RAM won't send it to the disk so if you don't then manually save it it will be gone for good later when the cache is flushed.

Capture to RAM takes about 3 seconds (thought I tried that first, but it is a bit quicker than to disk).
It's still long, but I might be able to get away with it. Yes, I'm going to use a DVE sequence to slide the capture up, like a teleprompter.

    Thanks!
