Slot number is just a "virtual port" that can be used to be associated with devices.
For TSL UMD protocol this does not really matter and you just assign to any slot you have open. Note you are going to probably need to setup 1 device per camera if you are sending direct to the Camera if it does not have a central controller that you are to send too.

Subject: Carbonite Tally to JVC GY-HC500UCamera
I'm trying to send tally to 3 new JVC GY-HC500U cameras. I saw this TSL support article- TSL UMD Protocol Setup and I have a couple questions. The cameras will already be on a closed network that I created along with the switcher. Can I send tally commands from the switcher straight to the cameras without any kind gpi box translating commands? If I go by the steps from the TSL UMD Protocol setup step 2 says "Press Add and use the Slot knob to select an ethernet connection (Slot #). " What is the "Slot#"? How do I determine what the Slot# is? I do have a Skaarhoj ETH-GPI-Link box that I could incorporate if needed, but if I don't need to use it that would be even better. Any help on getting this started would be great.
