Carbonite Touch Drive Effects Duration

I continue to be perplexed on how to store the effects duration on Carbonite/Touch Drive.

In the video below you will see that Effects Duration From Memory is chosen in Attributes. You will see the memory panel is in ME 1 with an Effects Duration of 10 indicated. However, the effects duration (a wipe between Key 1 and Key 2) is at 100 frames (or something similar). In this recall, EFF DIS is off. With Local Row on, the memory panel displays the 10. When Local Row is off, leaving only the memory location (7) lit, the memory panel displays EFF Rate: Mem. Throughout, Attributes displays Effects Duration From Memory.

I have tried this with both Local Row on and off (with the memory panel recalling all layers, which I really don't want to be doing). I have tried storing with Local Row on as well as with All chosen (Local Row off) and then turning off all the layers besides ME1.

What is the proper configuration to store, in memory, the effects duration?

In the memory menu in live assist, in the recall attributes do you have effects duration from memory turned on?

    Hi Louis,

Yes I do. The video I posted may be a bit hefty for the site. Here is a google drive version. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eIjSNhKFdmQ7b_UDUcniKTreGDzDUU6G/view?usp=sharing

It says your Media File is still uploading ...  I will look at it when it is done .. or if you post it to dropbox or a service like that then post the link it will be quicker probably.

In this case, I found my error (I saw these were key transition, not effects disolves). However my original point is still valid. Do you store and / or recall in Local Row on or off with the layers you don't want turned off. I've tried both ways.

All attributes are saved with the memory..

1 - I setup my ME how I want it to be in that memory.. including ME Rates / Key Rates / EFFs Dissolve rates.

2 - I then press the store button on the local ME Row to make sure the keypad is on the "store side"

3 - I select the Mode --  when storing one of the Buttons PGM/MEM AI/EFF DIS must be selected..  (only on Recall Mode can none be lit.. thus in MEM mode)

4 - I press the ATTRIB Button in the local row and dashboard (if on live assist) should switch to show you the STORE page attributes..  Setup the Attributes for that ME/MiniME to set how I would like them.  Again here you can pick that the item Recalls or Does not Recall.

5 - pick  the Memory register and then press enter to save the memory.

    Recall

1 - Make sure Store Button is not lit :) so you are in recall mode

2 - Make sure the Mode Over Rides are Unlit (PGM/MEM AI/EFF DISS) this will have each memory recall with the mode they were stored in..

3 - Make sure the EFF RATE in the upper right of the screen says MEM .. if it has any value -- press Eff RATE and enter 0 it will change to MEM.

4 - press Attrib Button --- Live Assist on the Attribute RECALL tab of attributes.  All items should be Orange if you want them to be doing what is in the memory.. otherwise this will OVER RIDE the memories Attributes and Force it to RECALL or NOT RECALL even if the memory had a specific setting..  95% of the time this should always be showing ORANGE unless you have something that temporarily you need.

Like some special show Bug or extra Event graphic so you put it in Media Store 3 and say put it on Key 3 so you never what any memory to mess with that.  However this is only for a show or two so you dont' want to go through and Edit every memory.. so you just for now go to Recall Attributes and set MS 3 to NO RECALL and turn off All of the KEY 3 RECALL attributes as well.

    5 - Press recall register

Local Row.  I am only looking to store for this ME so I only use the Local Row when doing these steps.

Thanks Les. I am following your process and I understand (I think!) all the associated buttons. Let me show you where this goes off the rails immediately for me. This mirrors your steps 1 and 2.

    • Image 1 shows that I have set an Effects Rate of 60 frames (EFF RATE - 60 - Enter)
    • Image 2 shows that after I press Store, the rate changes, in this case to 10 and turns on EFF DISS.  All I have done here is press the Store button.

All button presses are on the Memory Panel, not Attributes.

Here are my steps (all in Local Row)

    • Set up Effect 1
    • Press EFF RATE - 10 - Enter. (EFF Rate 10 displayed)
    • STORE- (EFF DISS turns on) MEM1 - Enter. EFF Rate display shows 10 frames as expected.
    • Set up Effect 2 (which has carried over the 10 frame rate)
    • Press EFF RATE - 20 - Enter (EFF Rate 20 displayed)
    • STORE- (EFF DISS turns on. EFF Rate displays 0) Mem2 - Enter. EFF Rate displays 20

Mem1 now also has a Eff Rate of 20 displayed in the Memory Panel. Not the 10 frame as stored.

PGM - Mem AI - EFF DISS are off

In Attributes - Recall - General, Effects Duration From Memory is on (brown)

    Where am I going wrong.

Looks like you have Step 1 and 2 reversed ..

With STORE not lit up you are on the "recall side" of the Memory system an you are setting the EFF Dissolve Override Rate..  That should stay as MEM all the time for you..

Press Store to first move to the "store side" of the memory system ... Now setup your Eff Rate and Eff Dissolve mode.

It seems like somewhere in your steps your setting up the Recall side to not be in MEM mode.

Got it. That and having to do a EFF RATE - 0 to clear the register.

    Thanks!

I also found a bug where a CC doesn't recall the stored DVE mode in an ME, but let's save that! :)
